Welcome! I am a dual Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and family nurse practitioner licensed in Georgia with over 20 years of experience in providing care to children, teens, adult and family.
I provide patient-centered care with evidence-based approach in efforts to give patients the tools necessary to achieve optimal mental health function. I utilize a holistic approach, which means I partner with you to connect Biopsychosocial factors that contribute to unwellness. Partnering with you helps to examine how your genetics, physical health, psychological make-up, social interactions, and lifestyle contribute to your overall well-being.
You can expect to engage in an honest communication within a safe and nonjudgmental environment. I respect and value all patients and understand that seeking mental care is not always easy.
In addition to medication management, I focus on therapeutic interventions that are rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, supportive therapy and solution-focused therapy. My ultimate goal is to work with my Patients to find an individualized treatment plan that helps them to achieve their best wellness.
Dr. Bakari Vickerson is a board-certified psychiatrist, who is kind and caring and patient focused. He first studied at Morehouse College before completing his psychiatry and integrative medicine residencies at Emory University. He fell in love with psychiatry during medical school as he began working with patients.
To him, time stood still while he was able to talk with patients and get to know them, and that connection allowed for the most cohesive treatment plans. He believes in holistic treatment. Treatment options such as psychotherapy, medication management, and other therapies based on client needs.
